In Canada our fall harvest is a little earlier and this weekend is Thanksgiving weekend! We have so many things to be grateful for. Our daily practice of nourishing and refreshing mini-moments to keep us at our best for our family, friends and work place is also something to appreciate.

Depending on how we are feeling or what we are doing it can be very hard to feel and show gratitude.

Ways to feel gratitude and thankful throughout the week:

Gratitude - jfk

  • Cooking is a great time to fell grateful for the food and family we have, for the stove and refrigerator.
  • Household chores, as boring and laborious as they are, give us the opportunity to appreciate the roof over our head and walls that surround us, the heat and the comfort.
  • When we have a tea moment if we can stop and look around noticing the colours that we see and listening to the sounds we hear and be grateful that we have those senses.
  • While at work, having a thankful mini-moment for the job we have and our transportation to work, whether car, bus, bike or even our feet : )
  • Our health is another thing to be appreciated. Even when ill we can look around and find others feeling worse.  This is a good opportunity to be grateful and pass on good thoughts to others. Being sick often forces us to stop and take time for us, something we might not have done otherwise.

These are only a few ways to be thankful and feel gratitude, for what we have and the lives that we live, throughout the week.

I’m thankful for my daughter who is 28 today. God gave me the most wonderful blessing I could ever ask for when He gave me my daughter. I’m thankful for God and my faith. I’m thankful for my mom, dad, 2 sisters and 2 nieces. I’m so thankful for being cancer free for 16 months. Life is a gift and everyday I celebrate it. I see all the small things that most people don’t. I appreciate every single thing I have and my family who is always there for me whenever I need them. I’m also thankful for God letting me be able to help the homeless people when I can. I’m not rich but I’m rich in God’s love. Thank you for the wonderful giveaway & I wish you a very Happy & Blessed Thanksgiving 🙂

I am thankful that my niece is home from the NICU. She is one week old today and has already had an X-ray, CT scans, IV fluids, and occupational therapy. She will heal with time and has brought our family so much closer. Grateful I get to meet her on Sunday.

My husband officiated a wedding this last week for my nephew and his bride. When they asked him last Christmas to do the wedding, I did not know if he will be able to fulfill that commitment as he had an aggressive form of Leukemia and just had a stem cell transplant. My thankfulness is over flowing, he made that commitment and we had a chance to dance together later on that night. My heart is over flowing with thankfulness for each day we have together.

I am thankful to live in a wonderful community of thoughtful, passionate, empowered people. I am thankful for the capacity of my thought to guide me through this life in a more or less pleasant experience. I am thankful for hot tea on cold winter mornings; and I am thankful for this giveaway!

I am so thankful for my family and friends. After experiencing the loss of a child, you really do find out what kind of people you’re surrounded with! We definitely can say we have amazing and supportive family and friends. My husband is my rock, and I’m so glad to he was placed in my life by my loving God! I am also thankful that harvest is done for another year. As a farmer it is a blessing to see the crop come off the field and see the fruits of your labor! We have so much to be grateful for! Happy Thanjsgiving! 🙂

I am thankful for my sister, Katie, one of two wonderful sisters with which I was blessed. Katie is in the USAF and has been understandably busy defending our country. This past week, she was given three days leave. She hasn’t had this many days off in a row in many, many months. Instead of spending that time to herself, she bought a last minute plane ticket and flew from Texas to Oregon to spend those three days (or at least what was left after traveling) with me. I am thankful for her and I am thankful for the special moments sure to come this weekend.

I am thankful for a lot of things. Right now I am thankful that we caught my dogs cancer early. The vet didn’t tell us she only gave him a few months to live in June of this year. He is doing great and still fighting strong. Our vet was surprised to see him doing so great in August. I am thankful I get to be with him a little longer and seeing him still have a pep in his step and wanting to play. I know there will be a moment when he will no longer be with us but cuddling and watching tv is great. Especially when he tries to steal sips of my tea.

Every night, as I go to sleep, I list my gratitudes. They start simply with being grateful for my soft, safe bed and up through the roof over my head and of course my wonderful partner. And family. And friends. And kitties. And garden. And Fall… OK sometimes I fall asleep before I even finish!!! <3

I am thankful for waking up each day & that I’ve pulled myself up from being at bottom and never looked back. I have a mantra that I tell myself to stay positive which is, “I am doing better then I was yesterday, and will do even better tomorrow.”

I am so thankful to be able to worship in freedom in our country. All over the world, people are persecuted for their religious beliefs – we are so blessed.

I am thankful that I got to share one last Thanksgiving with my brother. He was diagnosed with ALS last year and we have been celebrating many “lasts”. I am glad that I live so close, so that we could get closer, like we were when we were kids. I will be thankful if we get one last Christmas with him, but if not, I will just be thankful that we had him at all.
