The New Year is often times when we decide to improve our habits and ourselves. And this year we have a new moon – auspicious for a great start – so extra help this year for all of us!
We can make long list of New Year’s resolutions, but the likelihood of succeeding is slim. Why?
When our lists are too long we become overwhelmed. We might be able to stick to our well intentioned plans for a few days but in the long run it’s just too much.
The best way to make change is slowly, picking only 1 or 2 habits you’d like to make happen in 2014.
- Drink 2 glasses of water first thing in the morning
- Add a piece of fruit to your lunch
- Walk around the block twice a week or after dinner every day
- Set a workday bedtime and tuck in 30 minutes earlier to settle down
- Meditate for 5 minutes every day
You know best what is the best 1 or 2 or 3 for you – take some time to reflect and choose the ones that resonate with you as most important. It takes 3 weeks to form a new habit, after that you’re set.
