We hope all the Canadians had a great long weekend and we are wishing all the Americans with the upcoming long weekend a great time.

May you enjoy this time for rest and play and relaxation. The old saying “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” is true, but it can also impact your health. All our body systems work better when the body is relaxed and not tight – so many health issues are at root inflammation or stressed cells! We know we don’t make our best decision or enjoy life when we are stressed or enjoy a smooth flow of events, and our cells don’t work the same.  Help yourself out at the cellular level and relax to let your natural amazing body do its best work to keep you healthy.

The solution – have fun and relax. We need to change out of our work mode and into the relaxation mode to stay healthy.

Relaxing can come in many forms:relaxing at a picnic

  • read a book
  • go for a walk
  • being in nature
  • watch a comedy
  • yoga
  • meditate
  • play a game of golf, soccer or even a game of cards
  • enjoy a tea moment or two on your own or with friends

And the benefits are many – here are just a few ways a time out from stress can improve your health:

  • Lower your blood pressure
  • Improves your immune system helping to fight against cold and flus
  • Lowers inflammation, helping with asthma & arthritis symptoms
  • Helps with irritable bowel syndrome symptoms
  • Aids the healing process
  • Reduces skin flare ups

Relaxation can be anything that you enjoy that can take your mind away from your stressful situations.
