The New Year gives the opportunity to start fresh and learn some new habits for staying healthy. We like to do this with Matcha tea moments!

Tea purifies spirit, removes anxiety and nervousness, brings ease and comfort, and is conducive to meditation. ~Author Unknown

Why Matcha? Approximately 10 times more powerful than regular green tea, Matcha is by far the most potent form of green tea available on the market today. Shade grown and ground to a fine powder, Matcha is super-charged full of antioxidants, catechins and L-theanine, making it one of the healthiest natural beverages on the planet.

Matcha leaves are gently picked, and only the youngest, most tender leaves are harvested. The plants are shade grown 2-4 weeks prior to harvesting, boosting chlorophyll and l-theanine content. These precious, extremely green leaves are then lightly steamed to halt enzymatic breakdown, de-stemmed, and finally ground to an ultra-fine powder on traditional stone grinders. Quality matcha companies will vacuum seal the powder to ensure ultimate freshness and taste.

Keep in mind, not all matcha is created equal; matcha has many grades, Ceremonial being the smoothest tasting and chocked full of nutrients. The Second Harvest grade is good too, but slightly more astringent. From there the grades become bitterer and more yellow in color, ideal only for lattes or baking.

Not all matcha companies are created equal either; make sure you choose a good quality company with a quality reputation. With DōMatcha you get 700 yrs of expertise in every single cup. Join that with a convenient Libre Tea Glass and you have an unbeatable combination!

This week we’d like you to tell us which matcha product you would like to try from DoMatcha to be entered to win DoMatcha packets and a Libre Mug tea glass!

As a child, I spent several years in Okinawa, Japan. As American, attending an American school, lessons in Japanese culture were required learning. One of my most memorable cultural experiences I learning to perform the traditional, formal tea service. Even at the age of 11, I found it both beautiful and graceful.

The tea was lovely and so flavorful! I would like to revive the childhood memory of my very personal tea moment by enjoying the Master’s Choice tea.

I’d love to try the ceremonial matcha, either packets or a tin. I’ve tried one brand of matcha, and it tasted like stale grass. It would be interesting to try a good matcha and compare.

I would love to try the Ceremonial Matcha Tea. I love my steeped tea and my green tea but the Matcha tea intrigues me. I love the idea of using coconut or almond milk to make an afternoon pick me up. The health benefits of Matcha tea sound amazing – I want to make Matcha tea a part of my daily routine!

After spending the holidays eating all kinds of great food, it’s detox time. The Genmai Cha teabags with Matcha sounds right up my alley! My favorite sushi place offers a cup of delicious genmai cha with their meals since it aids with digestion and gets your metabolism going. Genmai cha is a brown rice green tea with a nice toasted nutty flavor that stirs up all kinds of warm feelings if you sip it on a cold day. I never had it mixed with matcha before but it sounds great.
