Tea moments help to keep the calm during the holiday season. Keeping the calm and focus about what the season is about is often overlooked as we get caught up in the hectic hustle and bustle.

Green Teas and Herbal infusions are a great way to help your body physically and mentally restore its energy.

  • Green tea has a small amount caffeine and works as a mild stimulant. It’s also an antioxidant and antibiotic.
  • Ginger stimulates the circulatory system, helping to clear the mind and stimulate the brain. Perfect for uplifting the spirit.
  • Licorice has been described as ‘the universal herb’ with its many beneficial effects. It increases energy levels, helps restore worn out adrenal glands and is an anti-stress mood booster.
  • Ginseng is another beneficial herb that works by increasing stamina, reducing fatigue and minimizing the effects of stress.

A combination of any of the above is sure to help restore your body’s energy!

winter solstice
December solstice marks the longest night and shortest day of the year. This Dec. 21st, take the time to celebrate Winter Solstice by going for a walk with loved ones through the neighbourhood, enjoying the sights, scents and sounds.  Watching the sunset and/or sharing a tea moment with family is a perfect time for pausing to reflect with gratitude for all that we have and all that we are.

one way I stay calm is to not put myself in situations that may cause stress, like not going to the mall on weekends right before Christmas; but, truthfully, I don’t have much trouble staying calm as I’m pretty “easy going” person even in stressful times; maybe it’s in the genes, who knows?

I deep breath as often as I can remember too, but always when I am in my car or in elevators, I have that down. I also schedule 2 massages for December back in October, and keep the appointments sacred, will not cancel, will not be late.

I think this was our calmest season yet. I just didn’t stress, what got done, got done, what did not, well oh well maybe next time. I just did not focus on the have to do but enjoyed each day.

Painting, taking photos, drawing… creating anything helps keep me calm throughout the holidays. This is especially true when I am creating something for someone that I love or creating something that I did not have time to earlier in the year. It’s such a hectic time of year and I find that buckling down and putting of all my energy and emotions into creating something helps slow the season down. You start to appreciate the larger picture of the season and stress less about the little things. On top of that… drinking certain teas are always calming. A good cup of a roasted Taiwanese oolong or a Fujianese red tea seems to just go to my head in the best possible way! 🙂 Pair that with watching National Geographic Wild and you have the makings of a stress free day!
